Former Minister of Transportation and ex–Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has emerged as the clear front-runner in the latest nationwide presidential aspirants public opinion poll released by the BTV Television Network Public Opinion Polls Voting Committee.
The results of the nationwide opinion survey, which ended on April 1, 2026, show Amaechi maintaining a commanding lead over other prominent Nigerian political figures including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Goodluck Jonathan and Omoyele Sowore.
According to the official figures released to the public, Amaechi secured 93,616 votes, significantly ahead of all other aspirants in the race for early public support ahead of the 2027 Nigerian presidential election cycle.

The poll results show the following vote counts:

RABIU MUSA KWANKWASO — 66,711 votes
GOODLUCK JONATHAN — 65,918 votes
ATIKU ABUBAKAR — 60,817 votes

SEYI MAKINDE — 34,151 votes
BOLA AHMED TINUBU — 34,114 votes
CHUKWUEMEKA NWAJIUBA — 25,997 votes
Political observers say the poll also highlights a strong rise by Patience Ndidi Key, who remains the only female aspirant in the poll and recorded one of the fastest increases in support during the voting period.
Analysts noted that her campaign has gained momentum nationwide, particularly among women and youth groups advocating broader gender participation in national leadership.
The poll committee identified several political developments influencing voting patterns.
Support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly declined amid growing public dissatisfaction over economic hardship, rising fuel prices and security concerns following violent attacks in Plateau State attributed to armed militia groups.
Meanwhile, the numbers for Goodluck Jonathan also dropped significantly due to his continued reluctance to publicly declare interest in the 2027 presidential race.
For Peter Obi, analysts say his numbers have remained largely stagnant, reportedly due to uncertainties surrounding his political alliances ahead of the party primary elections.
Similarly, the support base for Nyesom Wike has struggled to expand, with critics pointing to controversial political remarks and tensions within his party.
Observers say the strong surge in support for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is being driven by intense nationwide political consultations and strategic alliances with stakeholders across different regions of the country.
According to the poll committee, Amaechi’s campaign has reportedly increased by nearly 50 percent support growth, fueled by daily engagements with political leaders, women groups and regional blocs.
Political analysts believe the growing coalition around him could position the former minister as a major contender capable of springing a surprise at the presidential primary elections.
The BTV Public Opinion Poll Committee announced that the fifth stage of the nationwide voting process will begin on April 4 and run until May 31, 2026, closing at 12 noon.
The poll initiative, which began in 2010, has been described by Nigerians on the streets as Nigeria’s largest independent presidential public opinion tracking system, designed to measure early political momentum ahead of party primaries and the 2027 general elections.
The committee also disclosed that the coming phase of voting is expected to attract millions of additional participants across Nigeria and the diaspora, as political alignments continue to shift ahead of the crucial 2027 presidential race.
